Jan Bafrnec, MD

An experienced surgeon with many years of practice in general, trauma, and vascular surgery. Since 2008, he has operated on over 3,500 patients with oncological, vascular, and gastrointestinal problems, including acute polytrauma cases. He gained experience in district, transplant, trauma, vascular, and laparoscopic surgery under the guidance of established leaders in their respective fields. He currently heads the Department of Vascular Surgery at FNKV (Královské Vinohrady University Hospital), where he performs the most complex vascular and oncological surgeries as part of Professor Baláž’s team and regularly manages services at the FNKV trauma center.

Co-founder and pioneer of the one-day surgery concept in Neratovice and Iscare, and now, since 2024, he has established a vein center at Canadian Medical, where he has also significantly supported the development of one-day laparoscopic surgery. He is involved in teaching medical students at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine, regularly lectures at domestic and international congresses, and publishes in impacted journals.
